REBATEnsemble (short for Recession Era Broke-Ass Theatre Ensemble) presents ICONS: The Martin Show, a stage comedy about a modern, Asian-American family. Jimmy Martin is a college student worried about his grades, his future, and most of all about his family’s impending visit! When his mother, Norma, and father, Richard, arrive, Jimmy’s life is thrown into chaos. The pressure to be a good wife and mother (not to mention a few magic brownies) give Norma the bright idea to transform their lives into a perfect 50’s sitcom. James Dean, Marylin Monroe, car crashes, and sudden fame–50’s values don’t go exactly as the Martin’s expect. This dysfunctional family comedy takes a harsh look at American family values through the ages.
