An evening of original folk music with Heddwen, Meg Dolde and Larsen Gardens.
Heddwen is an original folk project with singer-songwriters Katie Rudman and Riley Skinner. Their music features complex harmonies over simple folk progressions.
Meg Dolde was born and raised in Seattle. She is currently a student at UW for Speech and Hearing Sciences, but she loves playing music in her free time!
Larsen Gardens delivers an intimate and deeply personal experiment both live and in stereo. After years in Nashville working on jazz projects with Beegie and Billy Adair, and an EP produced by legendary rocker Jen Gunderman (Sheryl Crow, Jayhawks, Dag), Larsen Gardens switched scenes to deliver her most raw and honest project yet. Self-released to the digital world in 2018, it was performed, produced, engineered, and mixed in her Seattle apartment. Melancholic layers of folk-driven electric and acoustic guitar, simple yet sentimental Wurlitzer, and wandering clarinet provide careful accompaniment to velvety, cool vocals reminiscent of ‘50s era jazz stylings. A far cry from American ‘50s cultural sentiment, however, the songwriting reveals a longing for feminine independence. Where worlds of softness are often distorted to shrivel in sultry obedience, a new voice has lassoed feminine intimacy back to where it belongs; as something sincere and much more intrinsically powerful.
